As we got ready to welcome autumn, a grand goodbye to summer was in order. At Peschiera del Garda. On the shores of Italy’s largest lake, Lake Garda.
The regional trains from Milan reach the little town of Peschiera in about an hour and a half (it is faster if you take the high-speed trains). A convenient day or weekend trip.
The pretty lakeside town has an old fortress, quaint canals, boats docked along the lake, and a spectacular lakeside promenade with pebble beaches. A perfect location to walk a bit and then, to sit back and relax.
Our stroll from the railway station took us past the medieval fortifications, over little bridges, past picturesque canals and Porta Verona, to Via Lungolago Mazzini. Along this lakeside promenade, we found several ‘perfect’ spots to admire views of Lake Garda, to relax and watch the sailboats, kayaks, ferries moving along. At the pebble beach, Junior enjoyed interacting with his friends – ducks, geese and swans.
And thus, we bid goodbye to summer at Peschiera del Garda, enjoying lunch, and then, a gelato (yeah! :)) on the shores of Lake Garda.
