A Weekend in La Superba (Genoa) – Public Elevators and Funiculars

A fun and amusing way to explore Genoa is to ride the various public elevators or funiculars of the city. Breathtaking city views guaranteed! At a very reasonable price.

Our first ride was on the Funicolare de S. Anna. Junior’s first-ever funicular ride – what a better place to do it than in Genoa! πŸ™‚

Next, we opted to ride the Ascensore Castelletto, a public elevator. This one was located very near the funicular that we rode earlier.Β Well, the idea of riding a public elevator up the slopes was thrilling! What a wonderful transport option for hilly cities/towns. And one that provides panoramic views is icing on the cake.

As the sun gradually set, its hues in the sky and the beautiful colors of the houses in the hills cast a magical spell. The city lights started to make an appearance, and in the distance, La Lanterna (the lighthouse) stood majestically, beckoning one and all to Genoa.

Unfortunately, we did not have time for the other funiculars and elevators – but there’s ALWAYS next time! πŸ™‚ And the wishlist grows :).
