Malnad Magic – II: The Verdant Expanses of Chikmagalur

After a rejuvenating holiday at Sakleshpur, we spent the next couple of days at another magical GREEN location – The Hidden Valley, Chikmagalur.

This getaway was chosen based on some internet research and very prompt responses to our email enquiries.

A scenic drive past the very well-known Serai Resort and endless expanses of coffee estates led us to the Hidden Valley Resort.

Long walks in the coffee plantation, rays of sunshine through the tall trees, a magpie robin chirping all day, delicious food in the dining room overlooking the little lake, absolute calm, serenity, peace. We couldn’t have asked for more.

Oh yeah, a tricycle for the “almost 3 year old”. That, the turkeys, and a noisy rooster: bare essentials to keep the little fella in high spirits.

On our way back to Bangalore, we managed to sneak in a visit to the Belur temple, magnificent as always.

Our Itinerary (Contd from the Sakleshpur trip):

Day 3: Drive from Sakleshpur to Chikmagalur via Hassan. Chikmagalur town to The Hidden Valley.

Day 4: At Hidden Valley, Chikmagalur.

Day 5: Drive from Chikmagalur to Bangalore via Hassan (included a brief visit to the Belur temple and lunch at Kamat near Channarayapatna)
